In order to avoid verbal abuse from my Mother, I must say I was born in Cheshire, not far from Manchester, England. So yes, I’m the one with the accent. I’m one of five and spent most of my childhood in utter fear of my elder sister, who’s fortunately now a good friend. I starting dancing when I was 2, and my adolescence consisted of school, ballet, tap and modern dance. I left for a specialized dance school at 16, where I was tortured by a 4’11” mini-dictator who taped my hands and made me dance with a frozen metal hanger down my leotard. These experiences taught me self-reliance and developed my belief that I can accomplish and endure anything. Having completed my dance training, I spent a year touring in Europe until a serious accident abruptly ended my dance career. I was terrified to start this forced new chapter of my life, and found a receptionist job with a property management firm. I rose through the ranks until 5 years down the line I was running my own branch and managing a staff of 7. After meeting my husband, we moved to Amsterdam for his job with adidas, where I was quickly hired as a receptionist at Wieden + Kennedy. After three months, I was pulled to be the creative assistant / mother for 9 creative directors, in addition to handling award show entries. After 3 years, adidas moved us to Portland where I spend time running with my husband and two dogs. I joined W+K and after a few executive assistant roles, became a creative recruiter with Melanie, specializing in junior and mid-level talent searches. I joined her at The Talent Business and now we are WNTD.

MELANIE MYERS

I was born in Dallas, TX and grew up singing that song, "Which of these things is not like the other." When I was about 4, I saw someone on a horse and was hooked, I still am, by the tremendous generosity and heart of these incredibly powerful animals. I spent every second I could with the horses until I went off to college at Texas A&M University. After graduating with a degree in journalism and social skills, I felt completely lost. In one week, I decided to pack up my stuff, ship it across the country and drive myself to Seattle, Washington. After a very short sweater-folding stint at Eddie Bauer, I found my way to more horses and a wonderful woman named Pam who got me my first real job at Microsoft, in 1991. I worked on cutting-edge CD-ROM's Cinemania and Encarta (My voice reads the Miranda Warning in Encarta to this very day.), until I moved over to a tiny company that's now a big company called Corbis. After meeting my future husband / father of my child / now ex-husband and friend, I moved to Portland, OR. I got a job at a pre-press company even though I had no idea what I was doing. In a year, I was running the department. We moved to Reno, NV where I got a job with a computer wholesaler even though I had no idea what I was doing. In 9 months I had single-handedly produced the most successful catalog they ever shipped. We moved to Atlanta, GA where I got a job as a tech support person for a financial software company, again, no clue what I was doing. I did a good enough job that one 85-year old investor from Florida sent me a crate of grapefruit in appreciation for helping him realize his computer wasn't plugged into the wall. We moved back to Portland, where I got a job at one of the top ad agencies in the world, Wieden + Kennedy, as an assistant for the guys who ran the Microsoft account. In a year, I became their creative recruiter, another year, creative manager working directly with Dan Wieden, the CD’s and the creatives on everything from team assignments to consulting to creative staffing. After 11 years at W+K, where I had my son, developed amazing friendships, endured a divorce and met the love of my life, I decided to leave and enjoyed a very successful year launching the US Creative division for The Talent Business. Now, WNTD.

Tricia Krupa Cha

Raised in Lawrenceville, NJ with my twin brother and four older brothers, I somehow escaped unscathed, at least physically. My entire 16-year education was attained within a 2-mile stretch of road near my childhood home. During my college years, I spent two semesters in Spain, drove a VW bug through Turkey and watched American jets fly overhead at the start of the first Gulf War and went hunting for birds with friends of the Moroccan royal family. I moved to New York with a friend in 1992, and knew I’d hit a financial low when I handed my twin the last subway token so he could make it to an interview and I walked 50 blocks that morning to my first real job at Y&R. I started as an assistant, finished as a creative recruiter, won $1,000 playing pool and climbed my way to the top of Lost Arrow Spire. My obsession with rock climbing provided me an outlet from advertising, and taught me focus, perseverance and confidence. After Y&R, I landed at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners as director of creative resources where I worked with creative, design, art buying, interactive, broadcast and project management. KBP is also where I found myself, my creative instinct, many good friends and my awesome husband. After 6 years and 9/11, it was time for a change, so we packed up and moved to LA, where I once again found myself at Y&R. After 3 years in LA, 4 more moves and 2 baby girls, Nike brought us to Portland. Melanie came to a party at our house one night, and after exchanging boots with one of The Black Crowes, she and I became instant friends. I joined her at The Talent Business and fast-forward, here we are at WNTD.
